The Hawaiian Humane Society is inviting all Oʻahu high school students, ages 15 years and older, to apply to take part in the Hawaiian Humane Society’s Teens4Animals Council program for the 2024 – 2025 school year!
In coordination with the Hawaiian Humane Society’s education program, Council members will develop, promote and lead school and community animal welfare initiatives and events throughout their one-year term. Council members will form friendships with like-minded youth and will be instrumental in further perpetuating the Society’s mission to promote the human-animal bond and the humane treatment of all animals.
Students appointed to the Teens4Animals Council will be required to participate in a 4-day training program at the Hawaiian Humane Society, from July 22-25, 2024. July 22-23 will be held at the Hawaiian Humane Society’s Kosasa Family Campus (91-1945 Fort Weaver Rd. `Ewa Beach, HI 96706) and July 24-25 will be held at the Hawaiian Humane Society in Mo`ili`ili (2700 Waialae Ave. Honolulu, HI 96826)
Other than the 4-day summer training, Council members will do four quarterly meetings focused on different aspects of animal welfare like responsible fishing, ethical farming, and more. The Council will go on field trips and assist at events throughout the year. All training program fees will be waived for Council members. After the application is received, you may receive two phone calls regarding your position on the council. The first would be from one of our current Teens4Animals Council members who will ask a few questions to get to know you better. The second would be from our Education staff. Those selected for the 2024 – 2025 Teens4Animals Council will be notified by June 21, 2024.
Applications Due: June 9, 2024 at 11:59pm.
