Hawaiian Humane supports the Trap Neuter Return Manage (TNRM) strategy as a humane way to lower the Free-Roaming cat population over time.
Spay/Neuter Fees for Free-Roaming cats
Thanks to our partnership with the City & County of Honolulu, fees for spay/neuter of Free-Roaming cats are completely waived while funding lasts through the Feline Fix program. Click HERE to learn more about this program and other Feline Fix providers.
Spay/neuter procedures for Free-Roaming cats include anesthesia, surgery, microchip, ear notch and FVRCP vaccine. This is a same-day procedure, meaning all Free-Roaming cats must be picked up the day of their procedure.
Book an Appointment
We do not accept walk-ins. An appointment is required for all animals.
Generally, the specifications of FRCs are unknown. If this is the case, please use the following answers in the questionnaire when you book your appointment:
- Animal name- “FRC1 (your last name)”
- Species- select “cat”
- Sex- select “Female”
- Weight- select “6”
- Age- select “1yr”
- Breed- select “domestic shorthair”
- Color- select “unknown”
All online requests are first-come, first-serve on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays only; one cat per appointment. If a Free-Roaming cat is intended to become an indoor pet, this intent should be noted on the online application.
Safety Upon Arrival
- Dogs must be LEASHED.
- Owned Cats must be in a SECURED CARRIER.

- Please limit ONE cat per carrier should you have multiple appointments in the same day.
- Free-Roaming Cats are REQUIRED to be transported in a HUMANE TRAP at all times.

- Please limit ONE cat per trap should you have multiple appointments in the same day.
- We do not recommend Free-Roaming Cats in traps for more than 24 hours. Please plan to trap accordingly.
- Should you need access to a trap, TRAP RENTALS are available at the Ginny Tiu Community Spay/Neuter Center – Mo’ili’ili Campus from Wednesday to Saturday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on a walk-in basis.

Free-Roaming Cat Spay/Neuter surgeries are by online appointment only. All online requests are first-come, first-serve on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and limited one cat per appointment.

Humane Cat Traps Available to Rent for TNRM
Trap, Neuter, Return & Manage (TNRM) is a strategy that allows Free-Roaming cats to live out their natural lives without reproducing. Colony managers/caregivers work independently from the Hawaiian Humane Society and volunteer their time to ensure the cats’ wellbeing and care. Through the City & County Feline Fix program, Hawaiian Humane offers waived-cost spay/neuter to for Free-Roaming/community cats.
Traps are available to rent Wednesday through Saturday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for TNRM use only at the Mōʻiliʻili Campus Ginny Tiu Community Spay/Neuter Center. A $75 deposit and a $25 rental fee is required at the time of rental. Upon trap return, the renter will receive the $75 deposit back.
