Schedule Surgery

To Schedule Cat Sterilization Surgery

  • Call 946-2187 to schedule surgery. Click here to download information (pdf document) on surgery guidelines.
  • Surgery is limited to two cats per person per week.
  • When a veterinarian is available, surgery is performed seven days a week except holidays.
  • Cats must be brought to the Humane Society in a humane trap (one cat per trap). Humane animal traps make it safer to handle the cats and there is less likelihood of the cats injuring themselves or the handler. Click here to download information (pdf document) on setting a humane animal trap.
  • Bring cats to Admissions at 2700 Waialae Avenue, between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. on the scheduled day of surgery. Those brought in after 8 a.m. will be rescheduled if surgery space is available the following day. Listen to the feral hotline message for up-to-date information: 356-2254.
  • Cats will be examined to assess their health for surgery. Caretakers will be notified immediately if cats are not good surgery candidates.
  • Absorbable sutures will be used so there will not be a need to bring the cat back.
  • Cats will be ear-notched (to identify them as neutered).
  • All cats in this program must have microchip identification. Microchips can be provided by the caretaker or purchased from the Society for $5 each when the cat is brought in for surgery. Microchips will be implanted at the Humane Society only when the cat is under anesthesia.
  • Fill out the Agreement Form in advance or when you bring in the cat. Payment for microchip identification is due at that time.
  • Pick up the cat on the day of surgery anytime between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.
